This goal is to be accomplished through the open dialogue and free exchange of ideas by a network of caring individuals, dedicated to helping themselves and others better understand and move through the pain of loss and grief. 

**Next Hosted Chat - May 7, 2008 ** Feel free to visit our ALLN Discussion Boards daily.  NEW at ALLN-Our New Chat Format is now open on a daily basis.  You can go in and chat now with our ALLN friends.  On Wednesday from 8:30 to 10PM EDT the chat will be hosted by one of our chat hosts.

The ALLN Chatroom is open every Wednesday from 8:30 to 10 PM Eastern Time.  As always our dedicated chat hosts are available via email.  Please contact medea@alln.org, susan@alln.org or peter@alln.org if you need immediate assistance.

The chat rooms are meant to be comfort zones for all who visit. We are here to help those who are mourning the loss of their pets and who are anticipating the loss of a pet. In order to achieve our goals, we all need to treat other people with respect, understanding, and compassion. Please help us accomplish this. If you find that you need to talk to one of the hosts before our next chat room, please feel free to contact us at {medea@alln.org}. We will get back to you as soon as possible. We hope that you will join us again and that you will tell others about the services we provide.

RULES FOR THE CHAT ROOMS
ALLN CHAT ROOM COMMITTEE

1) The chat rooms are mean to be comfort zones for all who visit. We are here to help those who are mourning the loss of their pets and who are anticipating the loss of a pet. In order to achieve our goals, we all need to treat other people with respect, understanding, and compassion. Please help us accomplish this.

2) We are not here to be judgmental, threatening or harassing in any way. We discourage personal attacks, bigotry, profanity, or personal abuse. Please remember to consider other visitor’s feelings when talking to them. Please contact the Chat Room Chairperson (medea@alln.org) if you experience any difficulties of this kind – not only from ALLN staff, but also from other visitors.

3) We will not tolerate misuse of the chat rooms. Although ALLN is not responsible for any comments made by our visitors, we do have the right to prevent anyone who misuses that chat rooms from entering. We do not want to do this, however in the best interest of our participants, it may sometimes
be necessary to resort to this measure.

4) Please do not write anything that could cause harm to anyone’s computer, software, etc.

5) Please use caution when sharing your email addresses or any other personal information with other visitors. Communication outside of the chat room is at the discretion of the individual visitor.

DISCLAIMER

The ALLN chat rooms are discussion forums for people who have lost a pet or are anticipating the loss of a pet. They are open and free of charge to anyone who needs us. Our chat rooms are here to offer support, compassion, and empathy to people who are experiencing this type of bereavement.
However, chat guests should be aware that discussing a loss event may at times trigger upsetting thoughts, and intense emotional and physical reactions. There could be a risk involved in opening up and sharing. We therefore encourage chat guests to be aware of their own levels of tolerance
and to take the necessary precautions to avoid emotional overload.

Although these chat-experienced hosts supervise the rooms, please do not regard the time as professional counseling or therapy. Chat hosts are not liable for any emotional or physical symptoms that might arise as a result of discussing these painful life events.

The ALLN disclaims any legal liability for anything that occurs because of of conversations between visitors and hosts in the chat rooms.
